Sanur is the original foreign tourism centre of Bali offering a wide range of hotels and villas; our previous guest reports ensure you can find the best. Sanur itself goes back a long way in time, with perhaps the oldest recorded writing on the island still visible on the small temple at Prasasti Blanjong. Dating back to the 10th Century, the text describes the arrival of Sanur's first ever foreign tourist, a Javanese king! During Dutch colonial times, Sanur was the favorite location for artists and writers seeking lodgings in Bali. Modern day tourism attractions include the Museum Le Mayeur, shops and restaurants. Sanur’s accommodations stretch for several kilometers along the beach and main road but the central section has the highest concentration of tourist facilities, so chose your luxury hotel location carefully or you will need to make taxi reservations!
