Isaan Area information
Isaan Thailand hotels listed here can be booked without deposit, plus we donate 100% of the reservation fee paid to us by the hotels to a Thai children’s charity. The 19 provinces of Isaan are also conveniently named the same as their respective capitals (Amnat Charoen, Nong Khai, Buri Ram, Chaiyaphum, Kalasin, Khon Kaen, Loei / Loey, Maha Sarakham, Mukdahan, Nakhon Phanom, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nong Bua Lamphu, Roi Et, Sakon Nakhon, Sisaket, Surin, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, Yasothon), which are where you will find the main hotels. Many tourist accommodation options have sprung up along the Mekong River, including bed and breakfasts, inns, taverns, lodges and guesthouses; the other rivers of Isaan are The Loei, Songkhram, Chi and Mun. Due to the relative poverty of the Khorat Plateau, very few luxury villas or 5 star resorts exist. Specialist lodgings such as for treks can be found in Khao Yai, although tour programs are available from most hotels in Isaan.
